Q4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

Collector target audience:
My groups film the collector is a psychological thriller, so our film would mainly be targeted to both genders male and female, to ages around 20- 30 adults. We chose to target our film to at male and female adults aged 20 – 30 because, the film is a psychological film so it would be targeted to people who are mature enough, Because of the level of understanding needed to enjoy the film. Some of the parts that will be used in my film, teenagers would not understand.

The wider audience for our film could be people from 16 – 40, because of the 2nd main character is a female student, some students could relate to the character. We hope 16 years old would watch and buy the DVD because, some teenagers enjoy watching a 16+ movie. This film is for intelligent people with a good memory, it doesn’t matter about the gender. Even if you are not very intelligent, you may want to give the movie a try, and who knows you might even understand what the film is about.

The age certificate for our film would be 15. The reason why I chose to give the film an age certificate 15 and not 20 was because we want as many people as possible to watch my film, to get a wider audience. If the age certificate was 20 then we would lose sales because people below the age 20 might want to watch the film in the cinema, but they are too young to get in, so I think the age certificate should be 15.

The most interesting selling point for my film would be that it’s a psychological thriller so it is aimed at males and females. Also the main characters are a female student and a young adult. Which, both male and female audiences could relate to the characters.

Q4. Who would be the audience or your product?

Q5. How did you attract/address your audience?

Q4. Who would be the audience for your media project ?

Our film opening is a psychological thriller and our main target audience is 16to 40 year old adults because of the level of understanding needed to enjoy the opening, it also has a female skew because of the psychological genre.  We are also targeting a younger audience to buy the buy or watch the dvd because of the hype and aspiration to watch an 16+ movie

Our sub genre the psychological aspect of the film has the same target audience but with a female skew as they like movies which needs a level of understanding to watch. There isn't many fights or action which tend to have a male skew but a deep plot which is full of pain and loneliness. The target audience for the subgenre is slightly higher which starts from 25 and ends at 40

The Unique selling point for our film opening is the psychological genre and the mix of a student main character with an adult main character. We have tried to create a film catering which would be interesting to watch because of the tension and suspense added into the opening. It have a small target audience of 25 to 35 and have a female skew.

The main programs me and my group used was, Final cut pro: we used final cut pro to edit our film in order and to add some special effects to the title and to the scenes. We also used soundtrack: to add some sounds and music to our film, we used sound to add some tension and excitement to the audience. We used slideshows to present our planning and pitch to our teacher. The slideshow made it easier to present and all information needed like the locations and props.

These technologies and programs were very useful in creating our thriller opening. Final cut pro was the most used program for our thriller opening, it was very helpful and very easy to use. The second most used program was sound track, this program was very useful in adding all the sounds and music we needed to out thriller opening. The most used and important equipment was the JVC camcorder, this equipment was very, very useful, without it we wouldn’t be able to film our thriller opening. Also the tripod was used to keep the camera still and not hand held.

Q6. what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product ?

During the course of this project we have used many technologies to make the blog more interesting by lowering the amount of words and paragraphs used in the blogs. The most used technology was the software final cut pro which we used to edit our scenes and bring them them together to create the film opening. Final cut pro provided a platform that aloud us to add special effects to make the opening more appealing and interesting and also aloud as to add titles and production company logos to film opening.

We also used Sideshows to help present our pitch and planing to the teacher. The slideshow helped
to present all the information like the props and location in an easy to view format with images. Prezis are another technology like a sideshow but it is easier to customise with unique backgrounds and animation making it more interesting.

The good things about these technologies is their versatility as we could add a sideshow into final cut pro and make it into a video or add a sideshow to a prezi. These technologies have been extremely useful to our group for this project.
