Thriller movie audiences usually have a slight male skew but can sometimes vary with a sub genre for example;

Action thriller is more of a male skew as men are seen to like violence, guns and bombs more than women. An example of a action thriller would be Deja vu, in the poster we can see it is targeted at men because of the actor Denzel Washington, who is usually featured in this type of genre. In the poster there is a explosion which shows violence.

Romance thriller has more of a female skew because women are usually seen to like romance and emotions. An example of a romance thriller is Obsessed, in the poster there is a obvious romance between Idris Elba and Beyonce Knowles but then there is also a jealousy from Ali Larter. It is obvious that Ali Larter's character is jealous from her facial expression and as she is wearing red which could represent the devil.

Supernatural thriller has more of a female skew because supernatural films usually have children in so it would women are thought to have maternal feelings. An example of a supernatural thriller is The Orphanage. In the poster there is a women holding a baby who appears to be a nurse. There is also little children hands reaching towards the women which suggest maternal references.

Psychological thriller has a male and female skew as this genre needs more of a mature and intellectual mind. An example of a psychological thriller is Momento.


Overall the thriller audience is slightly male skew and tends to be 25- 45 year old but depends on the sub genre.
