Film Opening Inspiration: Memento

The film opening of Memento is about a murder but is filmed in an unusual way which creates suspense and keeps the audience engaged. We like this film opening because of the amount extreme close ups of the props and the characters because it isn't a cliche murder film which makes it interesting.  This type of filming creates suspense which is conveyed to the audience efficiently which we also want to achieve for our own opening. For own film opening we want to create suspense and tension while also making the audience think about what will happen next but surprising them by choosing the opposite. During this film opening we find out that it is actually rewinding from the picture of the murder to the character holding the gun with a loaded bullet. This created a suspense and kept the audience interested as it made the audience want to watch more. I think momento could be a great role model for our own movie as it has achieved what we aim to, which is to create suspense to engage the audience and also surprise them with a twist that isn't expected.
