We decided to name our film 'The Collector' as we were inspired by the novel with the same name. It is called The Collector as the male character likes to collect butterflies.The genre of the novel is thriller and we chose this name as it is about a man who is obsessed with a girl and stalks her everyday.He then abducts her and keeps her captive in his isolated house in the countryside. He thinks that by keeping her there she will grow to love him but she doesn't understand his plot. The girl ends up dying and the man wants to commit suicide but he reads her diary and learns that she never loved him, so he ends up planning to kidnap another girl.
We chose to name our film after this novel as it related to our idea. Our opening will be about a male stalker who is obsessed with a girl. He also keeps a diary like the female character in the novel but instead of just diary entries, he does sketches, notes and he also likes to take a lot of photographs. The name also shows that the male character in our film opening likes to 'collect girls' as he is psychologically and mentally ill.
