We had to do a preliminary exercise where we had to film a clip that consisted of a match cut and a shot reverse shot. We had to also make sure that we didn't break the 180 degree rule. The 180 degree rule is a basic guideline in filmmaking that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship. The camera should not cross the imaginary line or otherwise it would be a reverse shot. In our clip we managed to keep within the rule however we didn't get a shot reverse shot.
We also did not get any over the shoulder shots because we had a lot of face to face conversation in our video. The over the shoulder shots could have been implemented in to our video but it was hard to film it and we wasn't sure if we could do it without breaking the 180 degrees rule. If we did added shot/reverse shots in our movie it would have made our film more interesting and created even more tension.
On a whole we are extremely happy with our film because of how it keeps the audience engaged and how the dialogue sounded within the movie. The props we used like the Glasses case and the £50 notes was the right props to use in our film and it made it look more authentic. If we could have made the film again we would have taken the risk and added the shot reverse shots as it would have been beneficial for the film, because it could have raised the tension between the two characters and could have made it easier for the the audience to understand and feel the tension.
